Update on Mount Edith Cavell Road and Hostel

In the early morning of Friday, August 10th, 2012, a large portion of ice fell from the Ghost Glacier on Mount Edith Cavell into the lake situated below the Ghost and Angel Glaciers. The ice fall displaced a large volume of water from the lake, sending water, ice and rock downhill. This resulted in extensive damage, destroying signage, the lower hiking trail, the pavement at the day-use parking area was also damaged and sand, gravel and boulders were pushed onto the road below the parking area and into the lower picnic area.
