Canada Day – What’s going on at our hostels?
July 1st marks Canada Day, when all Canadians come together to celebrate Canada’s birthday. As well as all the fantastic events happening in the cities and towns around the country, our hostels are getting involved too.
HI-Whistler actually shares its birthday with Canada, and this year it will be two years old! To celebrate both the hostel’s opening anniversary and Canada Day they are having an outdoor pancake breakfast on Sunday, July 1, from 8 am to 11 am and inviting hostel guests and neighbours to join in. They will also be giving away prizes, including overnights at different hostels.
HI-Lake Louise Alpine Centre’s staff will be taking part in the local Canada Day parade and having fun at the local events in Lake Louise. There will also be something going on at the hostel, but at the time of writing this blog, the event was not confirmed.
HI-Edmonton will be holding their traditional Canada Day free BBQ in the backyard of the hostel at around 5 pm. They will also be having a Euro2012 Final party on the same day!
HI-Banff Alpine Centre has lots going on from face painting, to balloon fights and an early afternoon BBQ. The on-site pub, the Storm Cellar, will be serving red-themed drinks and Canadian beer.
HI-Victoria does not have any of their own events going on, but they will be encouraging guests to participate in the city’s celebrations. The city has a whole host of events going on including live music, family friendly events and fireworks, more info can be found here www.VictoriaCanadaDay.ca
Happy Canada Day everyone!
