Vancouver Fringe Festival

The annual Fringe Festival of Vancouver arrives in the city on September 8th! It is the largest theatre festival in British Columbia and the most international in North America. There will be over 600 performances over the 11 days with everything ranging from drama to comedy and improvisational performances to musicals.

The first Fringe in Vancouver took place in 1985 after the First Vancouver Theatrespace Society (FVTS) had promoted and supported theatre projects from it's own loft space in Gastown since 1983. After receiving good feedback on the performances and growing popularity, the Fringe Festival was born.

The FVTS is a registered charity and 100% of the profits made from the Fringe go back to the performing artists.

Ticket prices vary for each show or passes can be bought for 10 shows for $90. More information can be found at www.vancouverfringe.com.

HI has 3 hostels in Vancouver - HI-Vancouver Central, HI-Vancouver Downtown and HI-Vancouver Jericho Beach. So why not get booked up and come and enjoy the culture of the Fringe in the surroundings of beautiful Vancouver?
