How well do you handle your bike?
Put your mountain biking skills to the ultimate test on Whistler Mountain, where riders from all corners of the world eat, drink, and breathe adrenaline.
If you’re not quite the expert mountain biker, no worries, Whistler welcomes beginners too.
Just be ready to cut your teeth.
Whistler’s mountain bike trails are as diverse as its riders: from the easy, scenic routes built for beginners, to the technically challenging jumps and rough terrain for the expert mountain biker.
Popular destinations like Lost Lagoon and Alta Lake are the perfect routes for beginners to get a handle on mountain biking, while also being diverse enough for the intermediate rider to enjoy.
Most of the late summer and early fall riding around Whistler revolves around Bike Park, which has some of the best and most recognized mountain bike trails in the world. Access the park via the lift, strap on your helmet, and go.
The list of Whistler’s biking trails is endless, so here’s an insider’s look at some of the best:
This green run is perfect for beginners who feel a little rusty on the ol’ bike. Chill out, enjoy the fall scenery, and gain some confidence handling turns, using the brakes and suspensions.
A blue run for intermediate riders who like to be kept on their toes, featuring tight berms (banked turns), rocks, and small jumps. The B-Line is a great route to test out your developing skills and to warm up for more difficult rides.
Take it to the next level with the tame version of the infamous A-line trail. A blue run that challenges the intermediate rider with berms, jumps, drops, and a few other surprises along the way, Crank-It-Up is best attempted with a solid handle on all the basics. Insider’s tip: watch out for the fast-moving riders and take a few breaks to catch your breath.
Starting at the top of Gardonza chair, this blue level trail also features berms, jumps and drops. However, Blue Velvet is not as intimidating as Crank It Up, simply due to the fact that there are fewer riders on the trail.
Considered the most famous bike trail in the world, the A-Line is a black diamond run for expert mountain bike riders. With large jumps and tight berms, the A-Line is one of the busiest trails on the mountain, and should only be attempted by those riders who can keep pace. If you have the skills to make it down the mountain, this run is an exhilarating ride sure to thrill.
Before you head off down the mountain, pick up a map of Bike Park at HI-Whistler or visit Whistler Bike Park website. HI members get a little something extra when they rent their mountain bikes through Summit.
What are you waiting for? Get out there and ride with the best.
