These new member discounts are starting to look a whole lot like Christmas. Grab a egg nog and rum and take a deep breath - because this one is good. HI members can now get 15% off entrance to the baths at the brand new Le Scandinave Spa in Whistler, and save 10% on massage services too. Don't say we didn't warn you.
This is the company's first foray into Western Canada with locations already in Montreal, Mont Tremblant and Blue Mountain. If you're new to the Scandinavian bathing scene, consider this: it's essentially a waterpark for relaxers that pulls from an ancient Finnish bathing practice that uses hydrotherapy to relieve stress, soothe muscles, improve circulation and calm the organs. Raise your hand if you've got some organs that need relaxing. Exactly.
A series of outdoor pools hold water at varying temperatures - from oooh to aahhh - which you're to visit in a carefully calculated circuit, alternating with visits to the ice cold water pool. Nope, it's not water torture, this apparently maximizes the effects of hydrotherapy but the real benefit is the opportunity to watch people try to keep a straight face as they step under an ice cold waterfall. Throw in some visits to the steam room, the sauna and the relaxation room and your body will be thanking you in spades.
Massage options range from your standard Swedish variation to the Thai Yoga massage in which your masseuse calls you Gumby and tries to tear your limbs off for an hour and a half. It feels way better than it sounds.
Show your HI membership card and get 15% off entrance to the baths (normally $55) or 10% off massages (from $130-$205).
Find out more at Le Scandinave Spa. Happy relaxin'!
