Various people had told me to check out Granville Island and another sunny day seemed perfect…

A short walk from the Central Vancouver Hostel is Granville Island…. A lovely mecca for relaxing and finding fresh food…

Over here there is a food hall selling all sorts of goodies! There is everything from fresh fruit and veg, smoked meats, deli food, smelly cheeses, and all manner of sweets and cakey things…..

There are also local arts and crafts to be sought out, great for gifts if you need something to take back home…. Lots of jewellery, photos, carvings, paintings and more besides…

It was great to come somewhere for a bit of hustle and bustle and with all the people around town right now, the island was no different…

It’s flanked by some very expensive looking apartments that look over the creek and the quays are filled with yachts for those with a few dollars to throw about…

Plenty of people were out basking in the sun, listening to music with a different artist playing tunes on every corner… it had a very bohemian feel and everyone was in relaxed mood under the blue sky…

I tucked into a chunky smoked beef sausage for my lunch, but there are all manner of hot and cold foods to try here…

Local fisherman can be spotted pulling crabs apart, there are starfish under the water and even cheeky harbour seals picking up the scraps…

There is a Granville brewery house out here too – clearly very popular as there was a queue of people waiting patiently outside to go and sample the wares…. As recommended previously, they are the brewers of a great Winter Ale….
