With a friend living here who knows the area well I couldn't pass up the chance to explore outside the city centre...
Although I'm here to experience the madness and enthusiasm of the Olympic vibe, it's also great to explore and show off the other side of Vancouver - it's easy to access nature. Trees abound here and some places just 15 minutes out of town feel as remote as you could be.....
Although the bears are sleeping it was great to be outside, feeling the peace and quiet and hugging the occasional tree!
The views across the water both away and back to town were simply lovely in the sunshine and there are a variety of easy to get to places to try out as you will see....
A beautiful day out - big thanks to my guide - Bobble.....

Way to capture the diversity of the Vancouver area, I used to spend a lot of time in the Lynn Valley, such a great place to recharge your batteries and get closer to nature.
Enjoy your time.

Great episode! Thank you Dan for the wildernes feature! Amazing pictures... Cheers, Markus
Hey Dan,
Good to see some of your vids. You looked rather serious at the start, but glad to see you've started to relax. And filming some of the wildlife - just like the good old days :)
Oh, & I like your maths too - 6ft 3 + gibbon arms = really, really big!! :-D
Hope you manage to get some skiing in yourself whilst you're out there. Sending you some good Brizzle vibes.

Heh Sian,
Thanks for the encouragement! Hope all is good back home...
Yes, first couple of vids from opening night I was running on 4 hours sleep and was somewhat overwhelmed by the thousands and thousands of people running about with olympic fever while trying to make sure I would be vaguely intelligible for editing!! My brain was melting a little.....
Hopefully now things are coming across a bit better.... and you know me - stick me in a forest and all will be good!! You would have loved the owl, it was soooooo cute! You'd have wanted to take it home.
When I get up to Whistler I will be doing some skiing and also in Banff too!!
All the best to the Brizzle massif!

If you are up for another bout of nature, you should take Erik's Tour. Erik has led tours for HI for 15 years and they are AWESOME. Recommended by Lonely Planet too!
