One of the top questions we always get from travellers is: "Should I book my hostels ahead of time?"
There's no clear-cut answer for this one but we do always recommend you book at least the first few nights of your trip. In high season, especially in Europe and Australia, you should always think about booking ahead, or during festivals or important events. You can never go wrong with booking ahead, but if you're a bit more of a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants traveller, feel free to wing it but you won't be guaranteed a spot to sleep!
Booking ahead is an especially good idea when you're heading to far-off lands. After a long-haul flight, the first thing you usually want is a place to crash so sorting that out ahead of time is always a bonus.
Check out some of these welcome packages seemingly designed for us Northern Hemisphere long-haulers in Australia and New Zealand. Not only do you get a place to crash, you also get a couple added features like meals, airport transfers or activities. You can set this up before you go, all for one good price.
