Online reservations at the new 180-bed hostel will open in February so stay tuned to Backpacker Buzz for more information. Rates have been publicized on the new HI-Whistler website.
A night in a dorm at the brand new hostel will start at $30 (incl. taxes) for HI members in the low season, and peak at $35 in the summer and winter high seasons. Private rooms with ensuites range from $99 to $150 for members.

I've never been to whistler I will be come the summer Nice!!!
The old HI-Whistler is still open right now but will be closing once the new hostel opens. It is a much-loved hostel in a beautiful setting but unfortunately it's just not big enough to meet the demands of travellers to Whistler. The Regional Municipality of Whistler has purchased the property but we haven't heard yet what's in store for it. We'll pass on any new information as we get it.
so what's happening to the old HI Whistler? I've been there a couple of times and even though it isn't new, I loved the location and the 'cabin in the woods' feel to it. Is it going to still be used as a hostel of some sort?
I'm pleased there'll be a new Whistler hostel, but the prices for the private rooms seem too expensive for a budget traveller. I guess my boyfriend and I will have to stick to the dorms, thereby making the new hostel less enticing than I had anticipated. The Tofino hostel private room rates seem more reasonable in comparison.
This is excellent. Perhaps the existence of a HI hostel will facilitate me actually getting my butt over there for the first time (since it's almost a crime for any BC resident not to have been to Whistler).
Wow! Looks great...can't wait to stay there. :)
