After three years of meticulous renovating and restoring, Melbourne Central YHA is ready to open it's newly restored doors in April 2009. This 208-bed hostel is now a modern, environmentally-friendly hub for travellers - the perfect launching pad for people who like being in the middle of urban action.
Conveniently located on Flinder and Spencer Street on the North Shore of the Yarra River, this hostel is just steps from entertainment, galleries, sites and transport. It's also situated in the heart of Melbourne's buzzing, cosmopolitan cafe culture. Fall in love as you wander through the infamous alleyways, uncovering local designers, independent artists and the best coffee Australia has on offer. When you stay, why not kick back at Bertha Brown's (the hostel's on-site bar), chill out on the rooftop terrace (perfect for summer BBQ's) or people-watch from your private balcony and take in all of Melbourne's creative charms.
Be sure to put the city consistently voted #2 on the World's Most Liveable Cities (0.6% behind Vancouver) on your Aussie backpacking itinerary.
